This classic Italian chain doesn't feel like one -- in fact, its Tuscan-style, terra-cotta decor seems unique among the Esplanade's Mod-Oz restaurants. Serving authentic cuisine like pizza and home-style pasta with a focus on fresh seafood, Villa Romana also prepares specialty dishes like crispy-skin quail, saltimbucca, and bistecca (steak of the day). The hot-and-cold seafood platter for two (A$130) and tropical or chili mud crab (market price) are popular choices. Open until 2 AM, the restaurant becomes more like an Italian wine bar and less like a restaurant as the night draws on.
