Fodor's Review:

From the remarkable Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, six-person cable cars carry you on a 7½-km (5-mi) journey across the top of the rain-forest canopy to the tiny highland village of Kuranda, where you can visit some local attractions or shop for Aboriginal art. There are two stations along the way, Barron Falls and Red Peak, allowing you to explore and learn more about the rain forest from the forest floor (ticket price includes a short ranger-guided tour at Red Peak, and there's an info center and lookout at Barron Falls). The base station for the cableway is 15 km (9 mi) north of Cairns. Many visitors take the Kuranda Scenic Railway out to Kuranda and the cableway on the return trip.

  • Cost: 1-way ticket A$39, round-trip A$56
  • Open: Daily 8:15-5:15, last round-trip boards at 2:45; last 1-way trip boards at 3:30
