Since 1926, the O'Reilly family has welcomed travelers into their forested world. Accommodations range from original 1930s guesthouse rooms with shared facilities to luxurious lodgings with handcrafted wood furniture, four-poster beds, entertainment systems, fireplaces, whirlpool baths, and spectacular mountain views and, from September 2008, chic architect-designed villas with vast private decks and hot tubs. For a little extra, you can join expert guides on outdoorsy activities, such as bird, rain-forest and glow-worm walks, flying fox and giant swing sessions, wine-tasting tours, and four-wheel-drive bus expeditions. The treetop suspension bridge is a must-do. Or just relax in the retreat's heated pool, hot tub, or sauna (or, from late 2008, a dedicated day spa). O'Reilly's room rate includes country-style morning and afternoon teas and daily audiovisual presentations. You can also get all-meals and dinner-breakfast packages. There's a minimum stay at Christmas/New Year. In 2008, there will be renovation in progress, but they'll be open for business as usual.
