Kirribilli Review

Residences in this attractive suburb opposite the city and Opera House have million-dollar views—and prices to match. Two of Sydney's most important mansions stand here. The more modest of the two is Kirribilli House, the official Sydney home of the prime minister and not open to the public.

Next door and far more prominent is Admiralty House —the Sydney residence of the governor-general, the Queen's representative in Australia. This impressive residence is occasionally open for inspection. Both houses can be viewed during harbor cruises. Both Kirribilli and Admiralty House are at the harbor end of Kirribilli Avenue; to get there you can take a ferry from Circular Quay to either Kirribilli Wharf or Milson's Point Wharf, or take the train from Town Hall to Milson's Point Station. The No. 267 bus does a loop from McMahon's Point to North Sydney via Kirribilli. There is no public access to either of these grand houses.
