A meal at Rockpool is a crash course in what Mod-Oz cooking is all about, conducted in a glamorous, long dining room with a catwalk-like ramp. After 24 years at the iconic Rocks location, the much-acclaimed restaurant has moved to new premises in the city center. Chefs Neil Perry and Phil Wood weave Thai, Chinese, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern influences into their repertoire with effortless flair and originality. The seasonal four-course menu (A$155) constantly dazzles and may feature mud crab with stir-fried milk and Jerusalem artichoke or snapper with sour orange curry, cashew, and coconut. Don't miss the date tart for dessert, or hang on for 20 minutes as they prepare the passion-fruit soufflé with passion-fruit ice cream. Other dinner options are two courses (A$100) and three courses (A$135) for the same menu, while a six-course tasting menu is A$180. The Classic Lunch Menu, of three set courses, is popular at A$65.
