Regular boat and air services are available to most of the Great Barrier Reef resorts, but because all of the destinations are islands, they require extra travel time. Generally, island launches and charter flights are timed to connect with domestic flights, but do double-check, and be sure to schedule other transport (flights, buses, trains) to coordinate with your resort's transfer schedule.
Smaller aircraft and helicopter pilots follow strict weight guidelines, often no more than 15 kg (33 pounds) per person, including hand baggage. Travel light, or separate excess baggage before check-in and store it in the secure airport facilities. If you're a diver, just bring a mask and snorkel, and rent other gear from resort dive shops.
