Voyages Heron Island

Fodor's Review:

Set among palm trees and connected by sand paths, this secluded, eco-certified resort offers six accommodation types that range from the deluxe Beach House with private outdoor shower and beach boardwalk to the compact, garden-level Turtle Rooms. The large, elegantly modern suites, which include amenities such as CD players and well-stocked minibars, separate lounge areas and private, furnished decks or terraces, merit the extra expense. All snorkeling and diving excursions cost extra, as does the kids' program, open during Australian school holidays. Room rates include breakfast; some packages also include buffet lunches and three-course set dinners. There's a Saturday seafood smorgasbord and a mid-week Aussie BBQ. Complimentary activities include guided reef and nature walks, stargazing, snorkeling lessons, trivia nights, and outdoor movie screenings. The delightfully zen Aqua Soul Spa offers treatments with marine-based and natural botanical products, and a spa menu. There's a well-stocked resort shop.
