Coconut palms, flowering hibiscus, and frangipani surround this elegantly informal, family-oriented resort on the island's west side. Spacious beach front suites and rooms have split-level designs (bedroom upstairs, living area downstairs) and glass doors leading onto big balconies, as well as luxurious appointments such as minibars and bathrobes; suites also have CD players. Airy garden rooms lack beach views but sit among tropical gardens, a short stroll from the main resort. Beachfront and garden rooms can be configured to suit families and groups. Beachcomber Restaurant, with its polished wood floors and killer views, serves tropical Australian cuisine, with lots of local seafood and two themed buffet dinners weekly. The Plantation Bar and Deck, overlooking the beachfront pool, serves modern brasserie-style food, gourmet sandwiches, salads, and Asian dishes, and has live music most nights. Get light lunches and fresh seafood at the rustic Jetty Café. Five-course dinners on the sand and picnic hampers can also be arranged. Although the resort touts itself as an activity-fueled holiday spot (a broad menu of activities includes social and water sports, fitness classes, and bushwalks), relaxation is easily found beachside, poolside, or at the resort's Spa of Peace and Plenty. Kids stay and eat for free.
