Orpheus Island Resort

Fodor's Review:

Nestled among palm trees and lush tropical gardens, this intimate island sanctuary offers two types of beachfront accommodation: Nautilus Suites and Orpheus Retreats. Retreats are immaculate, comfortable, and decorated with tasteful sophistication and an eye to intimacy: each has a hammock-slung private patio, kitchenette, lounge area, CD player, hot tub, aromatherapy oil burner, and bathrobes. Suites have similarly luxurious appointments but are considerably larger. You won't want to spend long inside, though—not when coral gardens under cerulean water and white-sand beaches are beckoning. With only 42 guests (and no clocks) on the island, activities, including snorkeling, beach picnics, diving the outer Reef, and exploring the island's coves by dinghy, can be scheduled any time you like. Extravagant seven-course degustation dinners showcasing exotic delicacies and local seafood are served nightly in the open-sided resort restaurant. Dining with the tides on the jetty and feeding local mullet by candlelight is an unforgettable experience.
