More Travel Tips »

In an emergency, dial 000 to reach an ambulance, the police, or the fire department. Canberra Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department.

If medical or dental treatment is required, seek advice from your hotel reception desk. There are doctors and dentists on duty throughout the city, but their office hours vary.

Pharmacies are in shopping areas throughout the city, and your hotel desk or concierge can help you find the closest one. Major chains include Capital Chemists and Amcal Chemists. Two convenient pharmacies with extended hours are Canberra Day and Night Chemist, open daily 9 AM-11 PM, and Manuka Amcal Pharmacy, open daily 9-9.
