The main terminal for intercity buses is the Jolimont Tourist Centre. Canberra is served by two major bus lines, Greyhound Australia and Murrays Australia, both of which have at least five daily buses to and from Sydney. One-way fares to Sydney start from A$25.

Canberra's public transportation system is the ACTION bus network, which covers the entire city. Buses operate weekdays 6:30 AM-11:30 PM, Saturday 7 AM-11:30 PM, and Sunday 8-7. There's a flat fare of A$3 per ride. If you plan to travel extensively on buses, purchase a one-day ticket for A$6.60, which allows unlimited travel on the entire network. If you're traveling only between 9:30 and 4:30, your best bet is an off-peak daily ticket, which costs A$4.10. Tickets, maps, and timetables are available from the Canberra and Region Visitor Centre and the Bus Information Centre.
