Fodor's Review:
Ormiston Gorge, 135 km (84 mi) west of Alice Springs, is truly breathtaking. A short climb takes you to Gum Tree Lookout, from where you can see the spectacular 820-foot-high red gorge walls rising from the permanent pool below. There is a water hole suitable for swimming. Trails include the 7-km (4 1/2-mi) Ormiston Pound Walk.
