Mary Anne Kennedy, the owner of A Taste of South Australia, is one of the most knowledgeable regional food and wine guides. Her private tours (A$350 and up) are a taste treat. Adelaide's Top Food and Wine Tours showcases Adelaide's food-and-wine lifestyle -- as in the behind-the-scenes guided tour of the Central Market (A$35), which lets you meet stall holders, share their knowledge, and taste the wares. Tours are scheduled Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday at 9:30 AM.

The Adelaide Explorer (a bus tricked up to look like a tram) makes city highlights tours, which can be combined with a trip to Glenelg. Passengers may leave the vehicle at any of the attractions along the way and join a following tour. Trams depart every 90 minutes and cost A$25 for just the city, A$30 for the city and Glenelg.

Adelaide Sightseeing operates a morning city sights tour for A$55. The company also runs a daily afternoon bus tour of the Adelaide Hills and the German village of Hahndorf for A$55. For A$49, Gray Line Adelaide provides morning city tours that take in all the highlights. They depart from 101 Franklin Street at 9:30 AM.

Tourabout Adelaide has private tours with tailored itineraries. Prices run from around A$30 for an Adelaide walking tour to A$150 for daylong excursions to the Barossa Valley. Jeff Easley, the owner and chief tour guide, can arrange almost anything.

Rundle Mall Information Centre hosts 45-minute free guided walks. The First Steps Tour points out the main attractions, facilities, and transportation in central Adelaide. Tours depart weekdays at 9:30 AM from outside the booth. Bookings are not required.
