Mostly young people buzz around this purpose-built, city-center hostel like bees at a hive. Adelaide's only YHA far exceeds the standards of its affiliation. There's a community feel throughout the property, from the declaration of human rights on the front door, to the free big-screen movie nights and seven-day activity program, including quiz nights and Ping-Pong competitions. Bright, airy standard rooms, family rooms, and dorms (six beds maximum) have metal-frame beds and individual luggage lockers. There's a huge, modern communal kitchen, TV rooms, and a smoking lounge. Nightclubs, restaurants, and city attractions are within easy walking distance. Doors lock at 11 PM, but if you pick up the external phone, the night staff will let you in whatever the hour.
