South Australia abounds with delightful lodgings. Bed-and-breakfasts are tucked into contemporary studios, converted cottages and stables, restored homesteads, and grand mansions. Modern resorts sprawl along the coastal suburbs, the Barossa Valley, and other tourist centers, while intimate properties for 10 or fewer guests nestle in hidden corners of the land. Budget hotels have basic rooms with beds and coffee-making facilities.

Most large hotels are in Adelaide, and although they offer the best prices on weekends, many offer discounts during much of the year, sometimes up to 50% off. So shop around for great deals. Outside the city, weekday nights are usually less expensive and two-night minimum bookings often apply.
