There is a risk of dengue fever (a flu-like illness) in American Samoa, with several outbreaks reported in the past few years. As there is no vaccine, visitors must protect themselves (particularly during the day) with tropical-strength insect repellant. American Samoa has one main medical facility with 140 beds that provides medical and dental care.
