Boulder Bank

Fodor's Review:

One of the defining features of the landscape here is the Boulder Bank, a 13-km (8-mi) natural stone bank, built up from eroding cliff faces farther north along the coast. In creating a sheltered harbor, the bank is essentially the reason Nelson was settled in the first place. You can easily reach it by car, driving 9 km (5 1/2 mi) north of town and turning into Boulder Bank Drive, then going another mile along a gravel road.
