Every room is unique in this modern boutique hotel in the old Public Trust building. You could choose the Raja Room, with its sari-draped main bed and a carved Javanese daybed; the room with an African theme; or the sensory trip of the Color Room. One room matches the overall travel theme of the hotel and is based on the exploits of Dumont d'Urville, who made voyages to the Pacific and the Antarctic in the 1820s and 1830s. The excellent restaurant ($$$) serves everything from a cup of coffee to delightful dinners based on local produce. Try the lamb rack, perhaps matched with an offering from Konrad or Cloudy Bay vineyards.
