$$$, Contemporary, Gisborne
Fodor's Review:
The high-ceiling dining room of this large colonial house exudes gentility; light filters through stained glass and you can look out toward the river. An upended wooden rowboat serves as an interesting wine rack, and the black napkins on white tablecloths give a dramatic look. Seafood is the specialty; look for the baked salmon on a parsnip-and-cauliflower mash topped with beetroot purée.
