Fodor's Review:

Log fires, leather armchairs, and a clubby atmosphere make the Bunker especially cozy. Whet your appetite with an aperitif at the bar before heading downstairs for a meal that will likely include some of the finest lamb, venison, scampi, duck, and quail you'll find in Queenstown. The wine list is equally impressive. The Bunker stays open very late and is often booked days in advance for dinner.

The Bunker was bunk!

It was the night of our arrival in NZ, so our tiredness could have influenced our impression. However, we were extremely disappointed with The Bunker. It was the worst meal of our trip. We made the required reservation and were the first diners of the night to arrive. We wanted only a light meal and were concerned when we saw on the menu that $40NZD in food spending per person was mandated. We asked the server about this and told her what we wanted amounted to $73 (including 1 glass of wine for the 2 of us). She reluctantly said it would be okay. We shared a lamb filet and it was so tough that we had true difficulty cutting it with a steak knife. We intended to complain, but we never saw our server again. When we finally got the manager's attention while he was serving other tables, he only said "well, she is busy working in the bar" and then sped off, before we could let him know we weren't satisfied. We finally just paid the bill and left. This restaurant was highly recommended, so I hope your experience is better than ours.
