$$$, Southern, Contemporary, Christchurch
Fodor's Review:
Cross the threshold of this mysterious black box and you'll be welcomed by a glass bowl of floating yellow chrysanthemums and candles. The space is an intriguing mix of Christchurch and Asia -- clearly, the interior designer had fun creating various intimate corners, large group spaces, and a leafy back courtyard. The menu also stretches between the two cultures; nowhere else would you find sung choi bao (a dish made with minced pork and finely diced vegetables) done quite like this. Finish with a latte and something unexpected: a little "fullstop," a marble-size orange-and-chocolate candy. If it's cool out, book later in the evening to give the restaurant time to warm up.
