Fodor's Review:

Set on its own in the desert 3 km (2 mi) from Ayers Rock Resort and accessible only by four-wheel-drive vehicle, this is the be-all and end-all of Outback luxury. Fifteen "tents" that pop out of the desert like a colony of perfect white mushroom caps make up this unique resort, which caters to a maximum of 30 guests at any one time. Each tent is named after a prominent regional explorer, and has a balcony with floor-to-ceiling sliding-glass doors for a panoramic view of the rock from the king-size bed. The excellent, discreet staff provides a customized turndown service, stocking your minibar according to your specifications. Gourmet meals are served in the Dune House, which also contains a formal lounge with an extensive library, and an honor bar of top-shelf liquors. Set just 49 feet outside of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, it's the closest accommodation to the main sites; the tour program is exclusive to the resort. You can park free at Desert Gardens Hotel and hop a complementary transfer bus here.
