$, Australian, McLaren Vale
Fodor's Review:
It's hard to disappoint when cheese and chocolate are your specialties, particularly when they're adeptly paired with local wines. Cheese maker and co-owner Mark Potter uses his PhD in biochemistry to mix up flavorful combinations of small-vineyard wines and cheese, available in A$15-per-head platters. He also runs daylong home cheese-making courses. The organic coffee is the best in the vale, and the baked cherry cheesecake is its perfect match. Blessed Cheese is the home and start point for the McLaren Vale Cheese & Wine Trail, a progressive picnic trail through the region.
