Fodor's Expert Review Temple Club

$$$ Around Dong Khoi Street Vietnamese Fodor's Choice

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

The charming and atmospheric Temple Club, which occupies a heritage building that was formerly the guest quarters for the Hindu temple across the street, has stood the test of time in Ho Chi Minh City. The main dining room and the lounge at the rear are both ideal for special occasions or a romantic meal in an unforgettable space. The menu features classic Vietnamese fare—try the fresh shrimp and pork salad rolls or the grilled fish in banana leaf—but the star of the show is the place itself, from the lantern-lit corridor through which you enter the restaurant to the Asian art and colonial-style furnishings. Scenes from The Quiet American with Michael Caine were shot here, and Brad and Angelina stopped by a few years ago, when they were still a couple.
