Ho Chi Minh City
Getting Here & Around
Ho Chi Minh City is divided up into 12 numbered districts—the highest concentration of tourist sites, hotels, restaurants, and bars is in the more-or-less central District 1, although things have been picking up in District 3 in recent years. Traffic can often be quite hectic. There are several options for getting around, but taxis tend to be the best option. Be careful to avoid possible taxi scams by riding with trusted taxi companies—Vinasun and Mai Linh are two of HCMC's most reliable taxi companies. Addresses in Vietnam often contain words such as district (huyen), road (duong) or street (pho). Odd- and even-numbered addresses are usually on different sides of the street. Sometimes one address will be broken into several units (A, B, C, etc.)
