Le Meridien is on an isolated 12-km (7-mi) stretch of beach to the north of Khao Lak town. Most rooms are either in the Family wing or Spa wing, the former having connecting parents' and kids' rooms and views of the pool and "kids beach," the latter positioned closer to the spa and adults-only swimming pool. Beautifully furnished villas have peaked roofs, spacious baths with tubs and outdoor showers, and comfortable sofas from which to watch the plasma TVs. Beachside villas have long, thin pools ending in Jacuzzis beside the beach. Le Spa earned the resort the 2006 World Travel Award for Asia's and Thailand's Leading Spa Resort. Pros: great for kids; nice spa facilities. Cons: not for romantic getaways.
