The Iyara is a getaway for young, European urbanites who don't want to give up the luxuries of home. The complex includes a maze of boutiques, including Lacoste and Bossini. Bronzed bodies lounge around the beachside pool and book spa treatments at the nearby Four Seasons-operated spa. Iyara studio rooms have peaked ceilings, wooden floors, and large bathtubs with sea views. Superior rooms have mattresses on the floor, Japanese style, but lack sea views. Cabanas, including deluxe pool rooms, are closest to the beach, and have teak furniture and outdoor daybeds. Particularly in low season, this is one of the most reasonably priced beachfront hotels on Chawaeng. Pros: good deal; close to lots of activities. Cons: feels a bit hectic; many rooms lack views.
