It doesn't get more basic than these small bamboo bungalows (nor does it need to). Were the island covered with these, it couldn't be more ideal. Thrown up in a sandy field, just off the beach, which once housed larger bungalows prior to the tsunami, they will inevitably be replaced by more permanent structures that may be "nicer" and more expensive, though not necessarily better. Check 'em out while you can. Reception is in the minimart on Loh Dalam Beach. Some rooms have shared bathrooms. Pros: cheap accommodation. Cons: prices increase dramatically November to May.
