Zeavola takes its name from a flower, the name of which translates in Thai to "love of the sea." That certainly is fitting, as the water off the powdery white-sand Laem Tong Beach is simply stunning. From the beach, sandy garden paths meander between semisecluded teak villas with outdoor sala entryways. Though the resort has modern amenities, there's a decided old-world charm to the place: baths have small mirrors and exterior iron plumbing and beds have cream-color mosquito nets. Chill out by the sea to relaxing tunes piped through all-weather Bose speakers. You can even relax on a simple mat outside your villa while fresh coffee percolates. Need privacy? Flick a switch and bamboo shades enclose your sala. Pros: stunning beach location; tasteful design. Cons: doubled service charge on food.
