For a slightly more expensive, but still budget, option try this small guesthouse, formerly called XVI (The 16). A pair of old shophouses were gutted and renovated by local Thai architect Khun Malida in a chic style that wouldn't be out of place in London or New York. The 12 uniquely decorated rooms feature spartan but stylish open layouts finished in wood, steel, and glass. The downstairs bar features house music until the wee hours. Pros: stylish rooms. Cons: few amenities for the price.
