Baan Krating was one of the few properties that didn't have to rebuild—it has a fortunate (and wonderful) location on a cliff above a rocky beach. The beautiful view and a path to the beach that travels within Khao Lak Lamru National Park give the resort a quiet, natural atmosphere. Rooms are in wooden cottages that are "rustic" in the sense that they do not have the usual explosion of silk fittings and Thai art that most resorts of this class have, but you'll hardly have to sacrifice any comfort here. Each room has a few deck chairs out front for gazing at the sea. Pros: quiet, relaxed atmosphere; great views. Cons: spartan rooms; slightly worn.
