Bandara gets high marks immediately for convenience: it's on the nicest stretch of Bophut Beach; the resort's facilities will be able to meet nearly all of your needs; and the restaurants, bars, and shops in the fisherman's village are a short walk away. The deluxe rooms in the large, multistory complex aren't particularly special, but they all have decks with daybeds. Rooms smell great—aromas are piped in—and fresh flowers sometimes await you. Private villas have gardens complete with outside tubs and showers, and shady daybeds perfect for massages. Five spa treatment rooms provide a variety of facials, massages, so-called "slimming programs," and aqua therapy. The seaside restaurant ($$) serves seafood and Thai dishes. Pros: ideal location; attentive staff. Cons: pool not inviting; unexciting room decor.
