This exquisite boutique resort to the north of Khao Lak makes you feel not only like you're on holiday, but that you are someone on holiday. The Sarojin's smaller size makes it more intimate and exclusive than nearby megaresorts. There are three types of rooms and they all have something special: garden rooms have large oval tubs in pebble-strewn indoor gardens; suites have outdoor tubs; and pool residences have private plunge pools and salas with lounge chairs. At the Ficus restaurant you can have breakfast beneath an ancient ficus tree growing beside a large pond with lily pads. The resort provides a variety of activities, including cooking classes, river rafting, elephant trekking, and day trips to the Similan Islands aboard a private speedboat. Pros: cooking classes available. Cons: price a bit higher than comparable resorts.
