Rooms at Australian proprietor Timothy Schwan's guesthouse have giant pop-art paintings on the walls, chairs in the shape of giant hands, and kitschy lamps. Smaller details, like a collection of books, including Thai language manuals and beach novels; a stack of DVDs atop the TV; colorful beach towels; and even the odd stuffed animal, really make it feel like you're crashing in a friend's well-designed bedroom. A penthouse room has a huge terrace with two teak sun beds, an outdoor dining area, and a lazy banana bed with a sweeping 180-degree view; indoors, a private bathtub overlooks the terrace towards Chawaeng Beach. Breakfasts are arguably the best on the island, other meals are decent as well, and the vibe in the lobby's bar-restaurant is friendly and easygoing. Pros: hyper-hip feel; fun crowd. Cons: can be noisy; not ideal for families.

Save yourself grief and do not consider staying here.
The room (penthouse) was filthy on check in- mens shavings in sink, etc. The 3 sliding doors to the deck do not close or lock so expect wildlife in your room. Breakfast was good though. Fixtures in room with phallic intent, ie: bedside lamps (man shape) have penis as off/on switch. Owner helpful but seemed to treat staff very poorly. Wallet mysteriously stolen upon checkout-- i could go on and on....but really, just don't stay here.
