Ask for a room with a view of the ocean at this beachfront resort—many overlook the parking lot. However, all rooms have private terraces or balconies that do face in the general direction of the beach. The rooms are divided between those in the main building and those in attractive, refurbished bungalows, which lack a view but are closer to the beach and pool. The rooms have carpets, furniture, and bedding that appear to have not been replaced since the resort first opened 20 years ago, but Aloha is one of the few family-style accommodations you'll find in Lamai. The popular restaurant, Mai Thai, serves Thai, Chinese, and European food, while the more casual Captain's Kitchen has a nightly barbecue. Pros: ideal for families; reasonable price. Cons: some rooms not so nice.
