Koh Tao
Getting Here & Around
Getting to Koh Tao is easy—it's on the scheduled ferry routes out of Koh Phangan and Koh Samui, and several boats a day make the trip from Chumphon on the mainland. Catamarans take 1½ hours, high-speed Seatran vessels take 2 hours, and regular ferry service takes 6.
Lomprayah Catamaran (www.lomprayah.com) has 1¾-hour trips between Koh Samui and Koh Tao for B500 twice daily, at 7 am and 5 pm. Lomprayah Catamaran stops at Koh Phangan on their way from Koh Samui (at 8:30 and 12:30), if you wish to jump on or off there. Lomprayah also has boat-and-bus packages available to get you from Bangkok or Hua Hin to Koh Tao. In addition, speedboats leave at 8:30 am from Bophut Pier on the north side of Koh Samui, taking snorkelers on day trips to the island and its neighbor, Koh Nang Yuan.
