Central Plains Hotel Reviews
Because relatively few tourists visit the Central Plains, most hotels and guesthouses cater chiefly to a business clientele. There are some top-class hotels, but most accommodations are much more modest than in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. As elsewhere in Thailand, standards of cleanliness are high and even the most basic room will invariably have fresh linen and towels.
A new phenomenon is the appearance of lodgings run by hospitable and knowledgeable local people anxious to help visitors get to know this seemingly remote region. They open up their homes to paying guests and show them around for a modest fee.
For budget-conscious travelers, rooms in the Central Plains are truly a bargain—even the most expensive hotels charge less than US$60 a night. Don't expect the full range of facilities, however. Such refinements as room phones and TVs can be rare outside the cities.
