Fodor's Review:

Thailand's most famous caves, the Chiang Dao Caves, run deep into the mountain that broods over the small town of Chiang Dao. The caverns, only some of which are lit, contain spectacular stalagmites and stalagtites and hundreds of Buddha statues and other votive items, placed there by devout Buddhists, for whom caves have a deep religious significance. About half the caves have electric lights, but make sure you have a flashlight in your pocket in case there's a power failure.

  • Cost: B10
