A curious but effective combination of a conventional high-rise and a Lanna-style aesthetic distinguishes this very comfortable central Phrae hotel. Traditionally dressed staff (the women in sarongs) offer a friendly welcome, and the Lanna touches extend to decorative features of the rooms, where local woods frame the beds and work areas. Phrae has very little nightlife, so the piano player in the lounge bar is a very popular local performer. Pros: center of Phrae's muted nightlife. Cons: favored by tour groups.
