Phrae's top hotel is far from palatial, but has comfortable, well-appointed rooms at a modest price. The many amenities include a pleasant pool and an outdoor bar. Rooms have Lanna touches, such as distinctive carvings on the walls. The two restaurants serve an array of Thai and European dishes; the more elegant of the two, the Maeyom, has an impressive wine list, including the best Thai vintages, and a menu of fine European plates, such as beef rolls with mushroom filling. Pros: attentive service. Cons: impersonal, chain-hotel atmosphere.
