You don't have to be a journalist to dine at Chiang Mai's unofficial press club—the regulars include not only media types but also anyone from hard-up artists and eccentric local characters to successful entrepreneurs. Local venison, wild boar, and rainbow trout frequently appear on the ever-changing menu, which also has an extensive Thai section. The house wines are good and sensibly priced. Reservations are essential on Friday and Sunday.
