Chiang Mai is ringed by championship golf courses that challenge players of all levels. The Chiengmai Gymkhana Club (053/241035) has a 9-hole course just 1 mi from the city center; green fees are B400 per day. Farther out, on the road north to San Khamphaeng, is the city's principal championship course, the Chiang Mai-Lamphun Golf Club (053/880880. chiangmaigolf.com). Northern Express Tour (Chiang Mai-Lamphun Rd., Soi 9, Nong Hoi. 09/850-7344) has a "tee-off service" that delivers golfers to any one of four courses near Chiang Mai for B800. Between the airport and the city center, near the junction of Hangdong and Mahidol roads, there's a two-tier driving range, with a good restaurant and coffee shop.
