Tha Khaek

Tha Khaek Review

With time, you can propel yourself across the Mekong into the Laotian town of Tha Khaek. Boats leave hourly and cost B60 from near the clock tower, with Lao visas available on arrival for US$36. The town is typical of Laotian border ports, with some surviving French colonial architecture mixed up with newer facilities. There are some great mountains and parks to explore close to Tha Khaek, but natural wonders aside, the town itself is just a stepping-stone into Laos.
