Renu Nakhon

Fodor's Review:

Renu Nakhon, a small village 14 km (8 mi) north of Nakhon Phanom, is an interesting side trip. Based around the temple of Wat Phra That Renu Nakhon, this small, tourist-oriented fabric center is focused on the production and sale of predominantly mudmee silks and cottons. The shophouses at the temple's entrance make shopping easy, with dozens of local designs, fabrics, and ready-to-wear shirts and jackets. Saturday is market day and village weavers set up shop, offering homespun fabrics along with some souvenirs and the chance for a good haggle. Behind the temple grounds you can watch households busily weaving.
