Just to make sure you get the message, the city's top hotel calls itself both grand and royal. It's certainly luxurious, with softly carpeted rooms furnished in pale woods and decorated in restful pastels. The two restaurants serve Thai, Chinese, and Western food, and the pleasant beer garden has a variety of beers on tap. Pros: centrally located; pleasant fifth-floor terrace pool with views; rejuvenating spa and fitness center. Cons: worn carpeting in rooms; staff and premises a bit impersonal; not the best value in town for price.

I stayed at this hotel recently and it was a horrendous experience. The rooms are run-down and have a damp musty smell. The worst problem however was the massive techno base pounding from the HUGE diso across the street. The "music" assault continued until 3am which gave me about 3hrs of sleep. Unless you plan to party at the disco until 3am and sleep until noon DON'T STAY HERE. Management could not care less, they said it was not their problem as the noise was comming from the disco. How about sound proofing the windows? At the very least they should be informing their guests upon check-in.
