With the exception of the rustic tiled floors of its pavilion-style restaurant and the stone walls in the billiards room, this entire hotel seems to be constructed of richly colored teak. You sleep on carved teak beds in teak-floor rooms, all of which have sitting areas with picture windows framing views of the nearby hills. The resort is on a 52-acre estate about 70 km (43 mi) south of Loei. Pros: beautiful natural surroundings; complimentary kayaks and mountain bikes for use; pampering Japanese spa. Cons: far out in countryside; not convenient for getting around without car; no other restaurants nearby.
