Sai Ngam

Sai Ngam Review

The village of Sai Ngam is home of the world's largest banyan tree, said to be more than 350 years old, which is easy to believe if you examine its mass of intertwined trunks. Walk along the raised footpaths in the shade of this vast natural phenomenon; it was once believed that the roots of the tree stretched as far as the center of town. The adjoining food stalls make it a favorite picnic spot for Thai families, and across the lake you'll see a faithful reconstruction of a traditional Northeastern Thailand house. To get to Sai Ngam, 2 km (1 mi) take a tuk-tuk (B60-B80) from downtown or rent a bicycle for B20 an hour from Boonsiri Guest House.
