Khao Yai National Park
Getting Here & Around
By Bus
Buses leave frequently from Bangkok's Mo Chit Bus Station, taking about 2½ to 3 hours to Pak Chong (B200). There are also many departures by train from Hualamphong Station to Pak Chong, which take slightly longer.
From Korat you can take a bus from Bus Station 1 to Pak Chong for B70; buses leave hourly for the 1½-hour trip. At Pak Chong take a local songthaew to the park's entrance. Note that it's another 14 km (9 mi) from the park entrance to the visitor center, so it's best to negotiate a ride into the heart of the camp or else you'll need to hire an additional taxi at the entrance.
By Car
As Khao Yai and its surroundings are vast, with minimal public transport, the best way to get around the park is by rental car or hired driver from Korat or Bangkok, which will also allow you to stop along the way at one of the many roadside fruit stalls (look for custard fruit) or curry puff vendors. If driving from Bangkok, take Hwy. 305 (Rangsit to Nakhon Nayok), then switch to Hwy. 33 at Naresuan Junction, and then turn left onto 3077 leading to the park headquarters after 40 km (25 mi; about 2½ hours).
