The national tourist police can be contacted in emergency at 1155, possibly your best bet at finding an English speaker.

Theft isn't particularly common in the region, but it's not unheard of, so it's advisable to take the normal precautions like ensuring rental cars are locked and possessions are out of sight. Motorbikes are more prone to theft than cars.

The strong currents of the Mekong River can be dangerous. Swimming, diving, or kayaking is not recommended.
