A former 19th-century Chinese trader's home has been beautifully converted into a snug bed-and-breakfast inn at the heart of a riverside road lined by similar reminders of a bygone era. The teak-floored residents' lounge is a particularly homey touch, while bedrooms, although small, are romantically snug, each one a synthesis of Lanna style and taste, softly lighted and featuring local art on the walls. Ask for one of the upper rooms at the rear of the building; they overlook
an historic temple and monastery gardens. Ground-floor rooms have tiny gardens right outside the picture windows.
